The villages of the French Alps are full of talented vignerons. Some have been at it for decades, while others have only just started. Many grew up in the mountain, valley, and lakeside communities sprinkled across this geographically complex area, though some of the most popular domaines are led by winemakers with roots outside the region.
From the drastically natural to the significantly engineered, the methods used by producers differ neighbor-by-neighbor. Still, the vast majority are united in a mission to deliver an expression of something truly Alpine. It’s an exciting time for winemaking in the French Alps . The world is beginning to recognize just how special the wines, and the people behind the bottles, are.
